  Organisation and Functioning  
   

The Centre for Air Power Studies was established in April 2002 under an independent, non-profit, non-governmental trust registered in New Delhi titled Forum for National Security Studies under the existing regulations of US 12A. Income Tax clearances, including tax exemption for contributions and donations under Section 80/G (5) (VI) of IT Act were issued in May 2003. The Trust has been established to undertake and promote policy-related research, study and discussion on problems of national security and defence in the evolving strategic and international security environment.

Research and studies in strategic environment, international relations and national (external and internal) security.

 
   

Trends in the nature, doctrine and methods of warfare and application of force, and evolution of military technology and its impact on security.

 
   

Strategic and military doctrines and policy in pursuit of national security interests and their impact on national and international security.

 
   

Economic security especially energy, food, information technology, development and environmental security issues.

 
   

Internal security challenges and policies.

 
   

Disarmament, arms control and confidence building among states.

 
   

Trends in defence expenditure, manpower policies, military technology, defence industry and resource availability in the context of enhancing national self-reliance in defence and security.

 
   

The role of public information/media in national/international security.

 
   

Role and impact of the UN, international and multilateral organisations on international peace and security.

Aims and Objectives
 
   

The aims and objectives of the Centre for Air Power Studies are outlined below :-

 
 
  • Undertake and promote policy-related research, study and discussion on the trends and developments in air power and space for civil and military purposes
   
  • Promote research, study and discussion of military history and trends in warfare with special focus on the nature and methods of  air warfare and the application of  force through the medium of air and space

 
   
  • Study developments in modern technology with a special focus on military aviation and space technologies

 
   
  • Undertake research, study and analyses of the role of air power and space capabilities in India’s defence and security

 
   
  • Undertake studies related to the doctrines and strategies for the development and employment of air power

 
   
  • Publish through a periodical journal or otherwise the activities and studies of the Centre and contributions to constructive thought in the field of defence and air power studies and analyses
